Great information from The Glass Baby Bottle. Spectra Breast Pumps will fit the following baby bottles: Spectra Breast Pumps are compatible with most baby bottles when you use bottle pump adapters and in some cases no adapter is needed.See the list below to find what will work for your bottle pump combo.
Brianne720I made a post like a month ago asking the same thing. I decided to go with the spectra, I'm a FTM btw. I don't have to travel or worry about being able to take my pump with me a whole lot and from what I've researched and was told it just seems like spectra is a better choice. They are both very used and liked. Spectra I guess is closer to hospital grade than medela and certain parts can be used from the medela on the spectra.
Also a spectra is a closed system, meaning less cleaning, less germs, and less mildew. The only reason I considered the medela is cause you get so much extra stuff with it like the cooler and bottles but like I said, I don't need to pump on the go so it's not as important to me as just having a comfortable pump. Mrsj070718I'm going with the Spectra S1. The Medela is covered by my insurance, but I've read and heard several partially negative to fully negative reviews about Medela pumps and haven't heard anything bad about Spectra. I was originally going with the S2, but like the flexibility of the S1 since it doesn't have to be plugged in if I need to pump on the go. I actually know a mom who uses the S1 to pump in the car on her way to and from work each day, which I thought was genius. If I'm just sitting there anyway, why not multitask?!
Either way, with everything I have heard from other moms (I'm a FTM), I just couldn't pass up Spectra.

I think a lot of people have this exact question, including me, and I read thru some old posts to help me decide. I like the spectra.
Though I have nothing to compare it to. I like that I can pump directly into a bottle, and don't have to clean the tubing. It is a nice size for portability, can be either single or double pump, has a nightlight and massage mode. I would absolutely pick the spectra again and would 100% pay the extra money for the cordless option again too. I got mine thru aeroflow which was a very easy process, the customer service was great, and I got the pump in just a couple days. They also check your insurance later on to see if they cover extra parts and ship covered accessories automatically.Edited to add: you can also get extra parts on amazon. I got some called nenesupply which work perfectly with the pump.
I had a Spectra (well two, eventually, I bought one to keep at work after I forgot it twice) but found the Medela parts easier to find, so I used them with an adapter. I forgot my parts a few times too and was able to Amazon prime now them to the office (to solve that problem, I bought a bunch of parts cheap on Craigslist, kept backups at work and didn't need to wash and dry parts EVERY night).
I thought the suction on my spectra was great, but I've never used the Medela to compare. I used pumpin' pals flanges and thought they were slightly more comfortable than either the Spectra or Medela parts.
I started pumping the first week baby was home and kept it up until his first birthday after going back to work at 4 months. Bottles are easier to find that work with Medela parts than spectra and there are more adapters for Medela than spectra for bottles I think. But the adapter part is pretty cheap, so it didn't matter.
